SOS Waverley
The State Government is inflicting huge developments on the eastern suburbs without any concern for the area’s ability to absorb them and is offering nothing in return.

Existing Infrastructure Constraints
The infrastructure of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs was designed before the car and before modern infrastructure requirements. Since then, excessive development has delivered Waverley the title of Australia’s second‑highest population density.

Waverley Council’s Position
Waverley Council, rather than seeking an exemption from the State’s housing demands, has announced a target population increase of 11,000 people (15%) in the next five years.
A year after the State’s decree, Waverley has offered no plan to alleviate or compensate for the impacts. Claims that development would be limited to the CBD area have already proven untrue, with excessive developments proposed at Bronte and Rose Bay.

Population Growth
By 2031
68,605 → 80,100

Evidence of Strain
- Traffic congestion highlights past planning failures.
- Recent sewage overloads and associated shark attacks underscore infrastructure issues.
- The State Government claims no new schools will be required.
- Service businesses such as pre-schools, vital to the community, are already being priced out and will be redeveloped and lost.

Representation and Accountability
Where are our elected representatives whose job is to protect and preserve our community, ensure it is not degraded, and prevent our standard of living from being diminished.

Call to Action
The eastern suburbs community must stand up for its rights and encourage our elected representatives to represent us, rather than simply inflicting state and federal party policies upon us.
